Laurie Chase Loomer grew up in a small, rural town in northern New York where she studied piano, violin, trombone and voice.  She has a Master of Fine Arts in Music Education from SUNY at Buffalo.  After graduation, she traveled as a trombonist and vocalist in various show bands across the U.S. and Canada.  She has taught elementary and middle school music in Buffalo, NY, Tampa, FL and Davidson, NC, always striving to impart her knowledge and love of music to all. Laurie has directed choruses, bands, a myriad of musicals and choral performances, performed in brass bands, and sung in choirs since childhood. She and her husband have established and performed in several jazz bands throughout the years. Their son, Chase, is a concert and cathedral organist who is finishing his DM in organ performance at Indiana University after completing his studies at the Eastman School of Music and Yale University. Laurie resides in Huntersville, NC and has a teaching studio, “Lessons with Laurie”, where she teaches trombone, trumpet, voice and piano. She also loves playing and cuddling with her big kitty, Fiyero, named after a favorite character from the Broadway musical, “Wicked.”
